Rajmachi fort trek-Nailing down the plan.

Here goes the plan
Day 1 - Satarday 6th Aug
Wake up Sid.... Its already late... it's 6:20 now..
Go ,get ready...
potty time,bath... and tea... ;) thats it.Bag packed??? pls dont forget things like brush...spare others brush atleast.
Be informed that there is a cold climate on Rajmachi.Be ready with your thermals.Let move on the Chinchwad station. Now come on..You are not SRK anymore who can afford coming on station just before the train starts and jump right into the empty boggie
and wait on the door for kajol to enter the station. Are you?
Moral of the story... leave home appropiately so that you can reach 15 mins early in station...last min hurry sucks all... you know that.
Uff ..we are in train finally... all wearing part time bachelors shoes...isn't that exciting :)
Chinchwad - Lonavala is a journey of around 1 hour.
Once we reach lonavala we can buy chikkis for family have tea ,breakfast and head on to our trek.
Lonavla station ->Tungarli village - > Tungarli Dam -> Rajmachi plateau -> Udhewadi. There is no trekking involved in this journey .
The distance between Lonavla and Udhewadi is about 15 kms.
The entire path is completely surrounded by green forest and it gives complete pleasure of walking.
If Chitu gets Maggie we can have it prepared in between this route somewhere. What an idea sirji???
It should take 4-5 hours of walking to reach Udhevadi. We will have our lunch at around 3:30 .
I think however slow we walk will not take more then 4 PM to reach udhevadi. At whatever time we reach we are here to stay.
We would stay here in Dormitory which we have already booked. Other arrangements like tea, snacks and meal are also made,so no worries on that front.

Day 2 - Sunday 7th Aug.
Next day we get up at 5 AM....did I mention 5??? Sorry 7 AM should be fine. Freshen up,have Breakfast & tea and get ready for treking.
We will have to cover two Fortresses on Rajmachi –the taller one in the east is Shrivardhan and the other in the west is Manoranjan.
Rajmachi is a unique fort having wide plateau on all sides of the twin fortresses. There is a rich treasure of historical monuments on Rajmachi, viz. mighty ramparts and walls, gateways,
secret exit gates, administrative offices, water storage tanks and reservoirs, residential quarters, temples and idols of deities. Kal Bhairav temple is situated in the col between
Shrivardhan and Manoranjan. Local inhabitants worship Kal Bhairav even today. The Budhdist caves on the western slope of Rajmachi plateau (at present known as Kondhane caves)
were carved in the period around 200 BC. The existence of these ancient caves indicates that Rajmachi had been identified as an important place right from the Budhdist period.A big
water reservoir constructed about 200 years ago is situated further down from the forest. An ancient Shiva temple, built in Hemdpanti style, is situated on the western side of the water
reservoir.Rajmachi affords a magnificent view of sprawling ranges of the Sahyadri mountain and one can see from here a number of historical forts in the Sahyadri. Manik Gad, Karnala,
Irsal and Prabal Gad (all forts) and Matheran (hill resort) are in the west. Dhak is in the North, Lohagad is in the east and Koyri Gad is in the south of Rajmachi. A beautiful view of
Shiravta Lake in the east can be had from Fort Shrivardhan.
Thats it from what I could find on net .We should be done by 1:30 PM. We get back to our base at udhevadi and have lunch there.Check out for a small nap for those interested.
we are not done with the adventure yet , lets pack our bags to go back to karjat which is more adventure ..more fun. Yes we are returning to pune via karjat. Our way back would look something like
Rajmachi ->Kondhane caves-> Kondane/Kharvandi -> Kondivade ->Karjat .Looks nice???Let me fetch more details for you
Kondhane caves are ancient Hindu and Buddhist caves; and these lie at the bottom of the Rajmachi. From there we head to small village of Kondivade.Karjat station is hardly at any
distance from Kondivade.Karjat can be reached from Rajmachi in 2 hours by youngsters. Lets check if we are still young.... .
Take tum-tum (auto) to Karjat.

Board a train at karjat and get back to papya home sweet home.
Wowwww I hope this journey would be wild as ever and memorable for entire life.Lets get ready for a fun filled friendship day.

Last but not the least for those of my friends who could not make it for some reason... "Miss you guys".

Cost incurred for Trek.
